A month ago, a new GTA game was introduced. It was expected to sell 200.000-450.000 copies before March 31. The results are here and it sold 88.704 copies. What made it fail?
Of course I'm talking about GTA: Chinatown Wars for the Nintendo DS. The results were really really disappointing. In the UK, it got the sixth place in the first week with selling half of the PSP releases did in their opening weeks.
In my opinion, it failed because of the DS. The Nintendo consoles, including the Game Boys, are so popular mainly due to the Mario and Pokémon games.
GTA: Chinatown Wars is rated Mature, while Nintendo focuses on the 12-18 category with it's Mario games. If it was released on the PSP it would have definitely sold more copies.
